Oxygen-sensing mechanisms across eukaryotic kingdoms and their roles in complex multicellularity

Emma Hammarlund and Sofie Mohlin at TCR, together with two colleagues from Oxford University, have reviewed how oxygen-sensing mechanisms across eukaryotic kingdoms are alike. From a functional perspective, these systems are active at low oxygen and degraded at high, although their scope varies.
